Why I Teach About Hearing God
I am Nate Skaife, a pastor and teacher, but I have not always known how to recognize God’s voice. I know what it is like when you do all the right things, like reading the Bible, attending church, and praying, while still wondering if it is making any difference.
How this began for me
I Used to Watch the Clock
When I first tried reading the Bible for myself, I planned to spend fifteen minutes with God. Those fifteen minutes felt like an eternity because I did not understand the context, the people, or how the words connected with my life. I kept looking at the clock and wondering when I would be finished.
When I prayed, I mostly asked God for the things that I wanted. I had never even considered waiting for God to respond, and it had not occurred to me that He wants to speak with me throughout the day.
People eventually came alongside me and helped me understand some of the ways God communicates. I began seeing how Scripture, prayer, people, and circumstances could be part of an ongoing conversation with Him.
The change did not happen all at once, but over time my relationship with God changed in very noticeable ways.
Why I Want to Walk Through This With Others
As a pastor, I have met many Christians who are doing what they believe they are supposed to do, yet they assume that God speaks to others more often than He speaks to them. I recognize that experience because that was my story.
My hope is that people will come to know Jesus deeply, learn to test what they sense through Scripture, and take the next step God is placing in front of them.
Would You Like to Begin?
If part of my story sounds familiar, you may want to begin with When God Feels Silent. The seminar follows the same path that helped me begin recognizing how God was already speaking. It will give you biblical teaching and practical tools you can begin using in your own walk with Him.
